Me ClaudiaAs a child I was fascinated by what I would call in French the “mineral” world: fossils, small treasures discovered on the ground and shell and glass from the beach. But as I was surrounded by somewhat austere people and stamp collectors, I trained as a lawyer! And set up a practice in the film production area. With time, these childhood passions came back to me more and more vividly and I began collecting stones and ancient beads from my travels. By chance, in Paris I met and became good friends with a woman who had designed and made jewellery for the great names of French couture. She taught me the rudiments of making jewellery and encouraged me. In my travels to Africa, the Middle East and Asia I source material which is out of the ordinary and make pieces at prices which are quite reasonable. Each item of my collections is individually designed, so your will always feel special. I want each woman to find a piece of jewellery with which she will have a close and personal connection and look terrific even in a simple white tee-shirt.  But different moods demand variety. That’s why I’ve created 4 different collections- GEMSTONES….TURQUOISE and CORAL….ANCIENT BEADS…. PEARLS and RENAISSANCE. The GEMSTONES COLLECTION: Despite the trend for statement fashion jewellery, the attraction of women for gemstones will never fade. Every woman has a special connection with a particular stone (for conscious and unconscious reasons! ). So, my main goal is to create original and exclusive pieces at reasonable prices, a gentle way to adapt to the crisis..... The TURQUOISE and CORAL COLLECTION : I find that Turquoise and Coral are a perfect combination, on a spiritual level too, as it connects the Sea and the Sky. These stones are so appealing and easy to wear, especially during the summer with a simple tee-shirt. Unless there is a specific description, such as Mediterranean Coral, "Coral" is in fact most often Sea Bamboo or Sponge Coral. Their natural colour is creamy white and they are treated and dyed in different colours like red, black or orange. The ANCIENT BEADS COLLECTION: I have an emotional attachment to ancient beads which bear the memory of the past and I have been collecting them for years. Some date back over a thousand years to the Roman, Sassanian, Persian or other periods. Others are Venetian, Bohemian or other beads from the 16th to the beginning of the 20th century which took the commercial routes from Europe to newly-discovered places to be used for trade. I combine these with more modern materials and the subtlety of gold to highlight the effects of time. These beads are rare and more and more difficult to find.
The PEARLS and RENAISSSANCE COLLECTION: Pearls have traditionally been loved by women because of their purity, luminosity and sensuality (remember Cleopatra who ate one!). Today you can find great pearls at reasonable prices because the way they are produced has become less expensive and exclusive than before, particularly fresh-water pearls which can now reach the same level of quality (luster and orient) as sea pearls. The size of these pearls has also improved, so it is a great pleasure to create a more modern way of wearing them in keeping with contemporary fashion.
